I know it's more than a year away, but since it's on the web site I figure I can talk about it now. Archon is moving to Westport Plaza next year. Yea room parties will be back, boo I have to drive further. I'm looking forward to the new venue, and lets not forget the return of room parties.

Looking forward to it. Beware, West County, of the invasion of the nerds!

I, for one, won't make the move when the convention goes out to Eastport. I had a bad experience out there which soured me on the Sheratons.

There was an article in the local media recently confirming the move: http://suburbanjournals.stltoday.com/articles/2009/09/04/madison/news/0826cvj-archon.txt

DoubleTree manager Stacy Cutler said the decision was mostly out of concerns for other paying guests.

What the 6 guests that are not part of the convention?

Westport is a lot closer to me, so I can't say I'm too upset about this.

One time when we were wrapping up Living Spycraft (in fact, I think it was when it premiered at Archon) the hotel staff came to give us a heads up that strippers would be arriving shortly for a bachelor party! Of course, I don't think those guests got that much sleep that night either! :)

Man, 12mil in renovations just in time for the economy to tank. And then they (and the other hotels) drive one of the largest draws every year out of the area. How does Archon compares to some of the other stuff the convention center hosts? Sadly, probably not as a big of a hit for them as we'd like to think.

Once it's at Westport I might actually consider getting there a 1/2 hour before the doors even open Saturday morning to try and get that last spot in a Cthulhu table!! :)

Actually, I think Archon is huge for the area. I don't see many other conventions there that are nearly as big and last 3 days. But, of course, there is the stigma attached to gamers. I suspect the management prefers a less . . . umm . . . noticeable crowd.

Room Parties are back!

Room parties are on the first floor of the Sheraton Chalet (LINK) and you should make sure you let the hotel know you plan on hosting a room party when making your reservation. No barrels are allowed in the rooms, but coolers are welcome.

The hotel does not want open containers of alcohol outside of the hospitality area. (More details to come…) Remember, the local constabulary will be about enforcing the King's Peace.

We want EVERYONE to have a great time at Archon. We encourage you to drink responsibly and be courteous to your fellow conventioneers. As it has always been in the past and always will be, behavior which jeopardizes the convention goers will NOT be tolerated and you will be removed from the facilities. No exceptions. Anyone under the age of 21, who's been drinking alcohol will be removed from the convention. Missouri State Minor In Possession Law applies to consumption as well as being in physical possession of alcohol. If your under 21, you are NOT allowed to drink at Archon. If you're over 21 and you're found giving alcohol to anyone under 21, you will be removed as well. KEEP THIS IN MIND WHEN HOSTING A ROOM PARTY PLEASE.

Come to Archon. Have a great time and come back next year. That’s all we want and ask in return.
